Premier League Darts
Phil Taylor is the 13/8 favourite to claim his sixth Premier League darts title when the 14 week league stage gets underway this Thursday from the Manchester Arena. Adrian Lewis, who recently defended his world championship crown is next best in the Premier League Darts betting at 4/1 whilst the 2011 Premier League darts champion Gary Anderson, is 9/2. James Wade, who won this competition in 2009 is 7/1 along with the Australian Simon Whitlock.
Raymond van Barneveld will be looking at putting a disappointing 2011 behind him when he takes to the stage on Thursday. The five-times Premier League darts semi-finalist is 20/1 to land his first major crown of 2012 but unless Barney really steps up his game the Dutchman could be left to fight out for the minor places. Premier League darts debutants Kevin Painter and Andy Hamilton can both be backed at 25/1 to cause a huge upset.
In the betting on who will finish bottom of the table, it’s the two new players that currently dominate the betting. Kevin Painter, who was awarded his place in the 2012 Premier League Darts competition after his success in the Players Championship Finals in Doncaster, is 2/1 and Andy Hamilton, who’s run at the 2012 World Championships earned him a wildcard spot, is 5/2. From the other players in the 2012 Premier League darts, Raymond van Barneveld is 3/1 to finish bottom of the pile, Simon Whitlock is 8/1, James Wade 9/1, Gary Anderson 25/1, Adrian Lewis 33/1 and Phil Taylor is the 66/1 outsider of the eight players.
Darts betting fans are in for a treat on the opening night of the competition when the top two in the Premier League darts outright betting go head-to-head. Phil Taylor is 8/11 to get his Premier League darts campaign off to a flyer with Lewis, who defeated Taylor at the semi-finals stage of this competition in 2011, is 2/1 (4/1 Draw).
The other matches on the opening night see Andy Hamilton take on James Wade (13/5 Hamilton, 9/2 Draw and 8/15 Wade), Simon Whitlock take on Raymond van Barneveld (8/11 Whitlock, 4/1 Draw and 2/1 Barney) and Kevin Painter take on Gary Anderson (3/1 Painter, 5/1 Draw and 4/9 Anderson).
The Premier League Darts competition pitches eight of the world’s best players together and with £450,000 of prize money up for grabs the next 15 weeks promises to produce some of the best darts betting action in the calendar year. Two points will be awarded for a win and one point for a draw. The top four players after the 14 week league stage will progress through to the play-offs at the O2 in London to decide who will be crowned the 2012 Premier League Darts champion.
