Manny Pacquiao v Shane Mosley

Pacquiao v Mosley PreviewBoxing betting doesn’t get much more exciting than when Manny Pacquiao steps into the ring and this Saturday we’re in for a real treat when the world’s best pound-for-pound boxer defends his WBO welterweight title at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas against veteran American Shane Mosley. This Manny Pacquiao v Shane Mosley betting preview will go through the boxers previous couple of fights and highlight the best possible value available to you.

Pacquiao is the 1/10 favourite with Sky Bet to win the fight (11/2 Mosley and 33/1 Draw) but if you look at what Mosley has achieved in his career, some may argue that the odds are too short. The American is a tough fighter and has only been defeated six times in 54 bouts but if he fails to dominate the fight early on, Pacquiao’s superior speed and power should eventually be enough to wear the 39 year old down. Pacquiao’s last fight saw him overcome tough Mexican Antonio Margarito by unanimous decision to claim the WBC light-middleweight title in November 2010 and many expect this fight to go the distance. It’s 8/13 with Sky Bet for Pacman to win the fight inside the distance and 7/4 on points.

If you ignore Mosley’s last fight against Sergio Mora when he struggled to achieve a draw and look at what he achieved in his previous two fights, you can clearly see that this fight could be a lot closer than many would expect.  Nobody expected  Mosley to overcome Antonio Margarito for the WBA welterweight title in January 2009 but the American dug dip to beat the Mexican in nine rounds. The former world champion then went on to go the distance with Floyd Mayweather only to lose via a points decision. Mosley’s record of 46-6-1 (39 K0), proves his capabilities but If he’s going to stand any chance of winning the fight, he’ll have to make the most of his ring knowledge and punching power. It’s 15/2 for the American to win inside the 12 round distance and 20/1 on points.

The bookmakers are offering a vast spread of markets ahead of the big fight so  if you think that the fight will go the distance, the 6/4 for either fighter to win on points may appeal. It’s 8/15 for Mosley to be sent to the canvas during the fight and 8/13 that the fight ends in the 10th round or over. Whatever the result is on Saturday, you can expect a true battle as both boxers love to come forward and fight.
