Champions League Twenty20
The first ever Champions League Twenty20 cricket tournament started yesterday in Bangalore, India. The first match saw the Cape Cobras beat the Royal Bangalore Challengers by five wickets, but there is still a long way to go until the tournament final on Saturday 24 October, so if you fancy making some cricket betting profits from any of the twelve participating teams then there is plenty of time to do so.
The Champions Twenty20 tournament was first announced in 2007 and it was originally meant to start in December 2008, but terrorists scuppered that plan when they caused devastation in Mumbai and forced organisers to postpone the event. Now, ten months later, we can finally enjoy some truly world class cricket action, and the bookies have gone to town with a host of Twenty20 sports betting markets.
The tournament starts with a group stage. There are four groups of three teams and each team will play two matches against its group rivals. The top two teams from each group will then proceed to play in one of two Leagues and the top two teams from each League will go through to the semi finals. There is $6 million in prize money available in the 2009 Champions League Twenty20 tournament, and the winning team will get $2.5 million of that, so you can bet your life that each team will be working as hard as possible to put in a winning performance in every match.
Paddy Power is one of our favourite sports betting sites for events such as this, and the popular Irish bookmaking company doesn’t disappoint. As well as offering the usual range of odds on the outright winners and match winners, Paddy Power also allows you to bet on the number of sixes scored in matches, the top batsman, the top wicket taker, the winner of each group, the top runscorer in each team, and that’s just a few of the options available to you.
William Hill is offering a similarly wide range of betting markets, and it is well worth taking a look at the odds available at both sports betting sites (and more, if you have the time) so that you can see which one will give you the most generous odds on whatever outcome you are interested in.
