As of 2nd April 2013, Blue Square has been bought out by Betfair and all accounts have been moved to the Betfair platform. This review is for reference only.
Ever since they launched in 1999, Blue Square Betting have been one of the most popular UK online bookmakers. In 2003 they were acquired by the Rank Group, which is best known for its casinos and bingo halls. Now, some six years after launching, they offer a wide range of traditional betting services, and have expanded into providing online casino and poker facilities. They also provide betting via interactive television, telephone and mobile WAP.
Although the name Blue Square provided an obvious starting point for web designers, it would have been nice for them to have developed it a bit. Unfortunately, they didn't and this means that the home page is blue, boxy and fairly uninspiring. However, that's just an aesthetic comment, and the content of the site is much better than the decor might suggest.
Everything is neatly organised, so finding your way to the kind of event you're after is very straightforward. Actually betting on the outcome of an event is a simple matter of clicking on the outcome you want. This is then added to your virtual betting slip, at which point you can add other bets or place it immediately.
The racing section is particularly impressive, because the betting page also displays abbreviated form cards for each race, including colours of the jockey silks. This saves you from having to refer to newspaper cards, which is great news when you're in a rush or you can't access the Racing Post site.
Those of you who like to bet with the Tote for placepots, jackpots and so on will be pleased to hear that BlueSq.com offer full Tote facilities that are accessible from the home page. We don't know why all bookies can't do this, but it's certainly something that earns Bluesq a few extra brownie points in our book.
Finally, as if to prove that they're keen to go the extra mile for bettors, the site offers a comprehensive TV Guide which gives listings of all sporting events that you can watch from the comfort of your own home. This guide includes all of the main satellite and terrestrial channels and is genuinely useful for the serious sporting bettor.

There's nothing that makes the BlueSq website standout. For some reason I find it a boring site - others have more previews to read and watch. They do have a good range of markets but I have had problems in getting a proper bet on!1 person has found this review helpful
