Olympic Beach Volleyball Betting
Beach Volleyball is one of those sports that you might not have thought about in an Olympic context, but it has actually been part of the Olympic Games since 1996. As the name of the sport suggests, Beach Volleyball was originally played on beaches, but for Olympic and other competitions it can also be played outdoors on a sand court built specifically for the purpose. Each Beach Volleyball team has just two players.
There are separate Olympic Beach Volleyball competitions for men and women, and both competitions follow the same format. The competition begins with the teams being assigned to a group and each team playing every other team in its own group. This is the preliminary stage, and the best teams in each group progress to the knockout stage.
In the knockout stage teams play to progress further through the competition. When just two teams remain they go head to head in the final. The winning team takes the gold medal and the losing team takes silver. A separate match between the other two semi-finalist teams determines which one of them will take the bronze medal.
As far as betting is concerned, you can either bet on the overall outcome of the competition or you can bet on individual matches. Overall betting markets include Outright Winner, where you pick the team that you think will win gold, and Winning Nation, where you predict which nation will win gold. You can also bet on a team each-way to win any medal, and this obviously improves your chances threefold.
Each Beach Volleyball match has three sets, so those of you who would like to bet on individual matches can bet on the Match Score (the number of sets that your selected team will win by) as well as on the Match Winner. These are of course just a few of the options available, and additional Olympic Beach Volleyball betting markets will also be on offer for those who would prefer to bet in a less mainstream way.
